I recently had the privilege of taking part in the Dear Parents & Carers Dinner Experience, an intimate and powerful event focused on supporting the emotional, educational, and practical well-being of parents and carers navigating the school system.
Hosted at MASQ London, this was not a typical panel event. It was a safe space designed for honest conversation, shared learning, and genuine connection—particularly for parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN), who are often overwhelmed, under-informed, and emotionally worn down by the system.
Sharing the Space with Experts
One of the highlights for me was the opportunity to collaborate and present alongside a panel of knowledgeable, compassionate experts who deeply understand both the education system and the lived experiences of families. Being in the room with professionals who bring legal, emotional, pastoral, and practical insight created a rich and balanced conversation that truly served the audience.
Rather than speaking at people, we spoke with them—listening, affirming, and responding to real questions and real struggles. The live Q&A reinforced just how much parents and carers value spaces where they can be heard without judgment and supported without jargon.
An Engaged and Receptive Audience
The setting was intentionally intimate, which allowed for meaningful dialogue and connection. The audience was open, reflective, and deeply engaged. Combined with a beautifully prepared three-course meal, the atmosphere encouraged people to relax, open up, and lean into the conversation.
Events like this remind me that impact doesn’t always come from large stages—it often comes from smaller rooms where trust is built and stories are shared.
Building a Village, Together
Kaydean’s vision for Dear Parents & Carers is both timely and necessary: rebuilding the idea of the “village” within our communities. A village where we don’t only support the children who are biologically ours, but every child within our reach. Where adults are equipped not just with information, but with confidence, empathy, and practical tools to show up well.
It was an honour to be part of an event that doesn’t just raise awareness, but actively equips parents and carers to take small, powerful steps in advocating for their children—academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Moving Forward
I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a strong group of panellists and to contribute to a conversation that truly matters. This experience reinforced my belief that when experts, parents, carers, and community leaders come together with humility and purpose, real change becomes possible.
Thank you to Kaydean for creating such a thoughtful and impactful space—and to every parent and carer who showed up with openness and courage. Let’s keep building our village
