It was a true privilege to support Plumstead SDA Church as they ran their first-ever Vacation Bible School (VBS) from 26–31 May 2025. Walking alongside a church as they take this important step in investing in children and families is always an honour, and this experience was no exception.
They delivered the Egypt VBS curriculum by Group Publishing, focusing on the powerful biblical story of Joseph’s journey from prison to palace. The theme was brought to life through vibrant decorations, immersive storytelling, creative artwork, and engaging activities that captured the children’s imagination throughout the week.
The children didn’t just hear the story—they experienced it. Through hands-on learning, drama, crafts, and interactive sessions, they explored lessons of faith, resilience, forgiveness, and leadership. It was inspiring to see how deeply the message connected with them and how confidently they engaged with the programme.
Supporting the Team Behind the Scenes
My role as Group’s UK distributor and VBS trainer was to support and encourage the VBS leadership and volunteer team as they prepared for and delivered the programme. From planning conversations to practical guidance, it was encouraging to see such commitment, teamwork, and a shared heart for children’s ministry.
The dedication shown by the VBS team, alongside the support of the pastor and church members, played a significant role in making the week a success. First-time initiatives often come with challenges, but Plumstead SDA Church embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, creativity, and faith.
Graduation Day: A Moment to Celebrate
I was especially honoured to attend the VBS Graduation and to give a charge to both the children graduating and the volunteers who served throughout the week. Graduation was more than a celebration—it was a moment to affirm the children, recognise the volunteers, and remind everyone of the seeds that had been planted.
I encouraged the children to remember that, just like Joseph, their journey may not always be easy, but God is always at work. I also challenged the volunteers to continue nurturing the seeds they had planted, knowing that the impact of their service will extend far beyond one week.
Another Church, Another Opportunity to Serve
Supporting Plumstead SDA Church is another example of how I am privileged to walk alongside churches as they develop and strengthen their children’s ministry. Each opportunity reinforces the importance of intentional, creative, and faith-filled spaces where children can grow, lead, and encounter God in meaningful ways.
Looking Ahead
Plumstead SDA Church’s first VBS was not just a programme—it was the beginning of something special. Seeds have been planted, foundations have been laid, and the journey has begun.
I look forward to continuing to support churches like Plumstead SDA as they invest in the next generation. When we nurture children with purpose, creativity, and faith, we are shaping leaders for tomorrow.
